See overview presentations
Founded in 1990, Community Consulting Teams (CCT) is a volunteer organization that offers non-profit organizations the business talents and expertise of MBA graduates. CCT provides its volunteers the opportunity to use their skills to contribute to the community in a meaningful way by working with non-profit organizations on a project basis. The non-profits benefit by receiving pro-bono professional consulting services to assist them with the pressing business issues they face.
CCT Mission
To provide management advice and consulting to socially conscious, Boston-area non-profits to help them better serve their constituencies.
Since its inception, CCT has completed 60 projects involving more than 300 volunteers spanning the sectors of youth, education, health, social services, environment, and the arts.
CCT Services
CCT provides services to its clients by conducting projects that address a wide range of business needs. Past CCT projects have included:
- Marketing strategies
- Growth strategies
- Feasibility studies
- Business plans
- Financial strategies/plans
- Operational effectiveness studies
In selecting client projects, CCT focuses on projects with clearly defined objectives and deliverables that have the potential to make a significant contribution to the organization. The non-profit organization must have the resources to commit to the project and implementation, including a project sponsor and support from the Board of Directors.
CCT projects are conducted from January to May/June. The project cycle begins with a project kickoff that brings together volunteers and clients. Each project is headed by an experienced project manager and is staffed by five or six volunteers who have been selected for the particular project from a pool of MBAs. CCT's Volunteer Committee is responsible for matching volunteers' skills with specific project requirements.
CCT has attracted the majority of its volunteers through the local alumni associations of several leading business schools including Darden, Kellogg, Sloan, Stanford, Tuck, Wharton and Yale.
CCT Organization
An Executive Committee that is staffed on a volunteer basis by MBA graduates manages CCT. The Executive Committee is comprised of people who take a leadership role with co-directing, client development and project management, volunteer development, marketing, planning and finance/systems. The team meets monthly to address day-to-day operations and strategic planning.
Executive Committee members chair functional committees (such as the Client Development Committee and the Volunteer Development Committee), which are staffed by MBA graduates who devote valuable time and talents to the internal operations of CCT.
CCT Funding and Contributions
CCT provides services to its non-profit clients on a pro-bono basis, relying on contributions to support its internal operations. Since CCT is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization, donations to CCT are tax-deductible. If you would like to make a contribution to CCT, click here.
